Traditional Grand Lodge of Scotland

Through Patience and Hope, toward the Light

Detroit

Benjamin Franklin Lodge

Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite

1706 – 1790

The Traditional Grand Lodge of Scotland looks towards Detroit as a meeting place for Brethren who share a commitment to the initiatic tradition, freedom of conscience and the pursuit of wisdom.

Our proposed lodge takes its name from Benjamin Franklin. His curiosity, dedication to learning and spirit of service offer an enduring source of inspiration for men seeking to improve themselves and contribute to the world around them.

In a city with a remarkable Masonic heritage, our aspiration is to build a living brotherhood founded on sincerity, mutual respect and the joy of learning together. At the heart of this endeavour lies brotherly love: the love that unites men across differences of origin, belief and circumstance. Through attentive listening, practical support and compassion, this love becomes a daily commitment.

Through symbolic work, reflection and dialogue, the lodge will seek to provide a place where each Brother can deepen his understanding, share his experience and progress at his own pace. As part of the international family of the TGLS, our project in Detroit aims to nurture lasting friendships between American Brethren and their Brothers throughout the world.

May knowledge guide our work, brotherly love inspire our actions, and hope sustain our journey towards the Light.
