Tradition, Brotherhood and the Search for Light
Founded in 1951, the Traditional Grand Lodge of Scotland (TGLS) pursued its work discreetly for many years, focusing on lodge life and the transmission of Masonic tradition.
The Covid-19 pandemic marked a turning point in its history. During this period, TGLS decided to become more widely known and begin a new chapter in its international development.
This opening took shape through the establishment of a presence in Paris, France, followed by the development of links with lodges in several countries.
In each country where it has lodges, TGLS progressively establishes a national representation. This body supports the lodges, coordinates their development and maintains their connection with the Grand Lodge, respecting local languages, cultures and laws.
In France, this role is fulfilled by the Grande Loge Traditionnelle d’Écosse (GLTE), based in Paris.
This structure brings lodges together around a shared tradition while preserving the richness of their individual characteristics. Our approach is rooted in fraternity, transmission and personal endeavour, in a spirit of respect and freedom of conscience.
Through Patience and Hope, toward the Light
